Well.
I've finally did it!
I think the resulting product is just fair.
There are so much room for improvements of course.
So before I get started on a list of what I should improve on, let's see what it is about.
Untitled.
Acrylic on canvas.
14" x 18"
7 hours.
Yeah, 7 hours is so long for something like that.
But okay, I took the pain to pay attention to details even on the little branches.
It was also my first time, so I deffo lack the experience.
Prior painting this, I watched a lot of painting videos and referenced to a lot of different arts from books and Google. Picking up some tips and what not.
At first I wanted to paint this tree in full bloom of white flowers which I can see outside my flat's window.
But that was during mah exam period weeks ago and by now all the flowers are d.e.a.d.a.n.d.g.o.n.e. I decided, no, I can't do it anymore even if I can still conjure up the image from my mind.
Really.
Inspired by Tim Gagnon's style.
Neat and dreamy scene.
And I love clouds.
Composition... I dunno.
Lighting... I didn't pull it off well enough.
The tree's shadow, hmm, can be improved.
Because of the style I desired, I find fault at myself for constantly letting my unstable hand painting strokes out of the shape.
I don't really care about the two mountains at the back though.
Arrangement of clouds down the canvas dissatisfied me.
Hm... Anything else?
Grasses turned out sweeet.
:D
With this finished, I have a feeling where my place lies.
I go for a more modern, contemporary, abstract, still life and slice of life-ish stuffs.
Might try pop when I develop a unique style of my own.
Otherwise it'd just be copying other artists and that won't work.
And nyahaha it's a self-taught skill.
In terms of experience...
The last video I watched was of Ana Tzarev, a Croatian artist.
And O EM GEE.
I felt so sad after watching her paint this huge canvas, impasto, mostly with just her little pinky.
And likely finished under one or two hours only.
BUT the product was so AWESOME.
Yea, I'm steadily losing some self-esteem again.
Difference is, I am at a suitable age to be her granddaughter.
:D
I wonder who I can go to to evaluate my piece.
To at least check out its value, maybe?
The word "value" in its many interpretations.
I want to try that on maybe, eBay.
But.
There are flaws.
Flaws that can be seen when you're up close to the canvas itself.
I'd be embarrassed to really want to sell it.
Anyways, it's a joke.
I'm working on a new piece now.
:)
